Sekiu Crab ID

Post by Chevayea »

Can you help me ID these crabs? I photographed them at Sekiu last week and I don't have my books in front of me.

Thanks Greg. Here are a few others that I came across (just in case you would like to see them). Sekiu is a great winter dive 'cause the kelp is absent and lets you see the stuff normally hidden. A great place for invertebrate lovers.

Beautiful pictures! Where in Sekiu are you diving? Near the jetty / rocks? Shore diving?

Thanks for sharing.

Yep, this was right off the shore at the rocks to the west of the marina. I've been there several times with the kelp in during the summer, but I really enjoyed this dive in the winter. A large variety of invertebrates are exposed in the winter that are hard to find in the summer.
