Janolus fuscus season has arrived

There were White and Orange-tipped Nudibranchs
Janolus fuscus everywhere at Titlow on Monday. These may possibly be the most photogenic slug in Puget Sound.
anyone seen that 'hump' between the Rhinophores before? Not sure what it is....

They've been at alki junkyard for a month or so. I saw one at Redondo too a couple weeks ago. Didn't see any last year.
One of my faves for sure. So tough to get a good shot of. Great job!

Hi Dan,
J. fuscus is parasitized by the copepod Ismaila belciki - apparently the copepod lives inside the slug but its eggs (if present) are outside.

Could this be the reason for the hump that you show?
