Strangely colored Stubby Rose Anemone

Post by cephalogoddess »

I believe these photos are of species Urticina coriacea, the stubby rose anemone, but I've never seen any this green before. I'm adding a couple bonus photos of a brooding anemone, Epiactis prolifera, (I believe) that I found tide pooling yesterday. It had babies of all sizes on it :)
Are my IDs correct? If anyone wants to post photos of anemones here, go for it. I'd love to see them.

Hi Taryn,

I think that your I.D.'s are correct except that the Stubby Rose has been renamed to Urticina clandestina. Check out this site: http://actiniaria.com/urticina_clandestina.php

Semanticly yours,
Alex
