Crab cleaning a fish

Post by dphershman » Sun Apr 21, 2019 9:53 pm

I was diving at Redondo last week and just as we started down the rope below the MaST I saw what appeared to be a Graceful Crab embracing a sole. I watched for awhile to see what was going on, and it was clear that the Sole was lifting up its head to reveal its underside, giving the crab clear access. Clearly some kind of cleaning activity. They were both so intent on their task that they paid no attention to me as I watched.

Very cool! Was this daytime or night?
Is it ok if I show this (with credit of course) to my class when I talk about fish/crustacean interactions?
