Here's a red and a gpo together at 3tn. I can't tell if they love each other or hate each other........ I guess the difference is insignificant.

Are you still using the strobe, Bob? I think I'm going to buy the Ikelite AF35 as a x mas present to myself.......

I used the strobe on that dive, Ron ... I'm still playing with settings. Sometimes it seems to overexpose the shot (almost did with the white-lined dirona above, but I was able to "fix" it) ...

I didn't know you added a strobe. What strobe did you decide on?

I didn't really decide on a strobe ... someone gave it to me ...Edge wrote:I didn't know you added a strobe. What strobe did you decide on?

It's a Sea & Sea YS-25 Auto ... a small strobe that slaves off the camera's flash. Works well to reduce backscatter, but is just powerful enough to mess you up sometimes if you put it on the wrong setting. I'm still learning how to use it.
You can see it somewhat in this pic ...
BTW, Jeanna ... I love your avatar. Did you take that at the oil dock?

Here's a pair of Armina californica that appear to be in a mellow mood, getting ready to - uh - well...mud wrestle, yeah, that's it! Found at Les Davis today in about 25 fsw.

Not the best picture in the world, but when I saw this little guy's location, it cracked me up. If you can name the dive site, I have a prize for you. Hehehe.

DING DING DING--you win!cardiver wrote:3TN! Where's my prize?
Your prize is a bucket of approximately 40 golf balls that I collected on a Rockaway Beach dive with the intention of relocating them to the "golf ball boat" at 3TN.

Here are some more lovelies from KVI
A nice leopard nudibranch A nice white line dirona an opalesent nudibranch 4 Shaggy mouses (mice?) and whats left of one poor brooding anemone (the striped thing in the middle) One more shaggy. I just love this color variant and the way the strobe causes them to light up!

This seems to be a great season for finding Red Dendronotids, Dendronotus rufus . I've been spotting them frequently at Redondo, Cove 2 and Edmonds lately. here's one from Edmonds last weekend.
I've been busy this fall working on my photos and putting together a 2009 calendar of local Nudibranchs, its now available through Lulu.com. If your a nudi nut you can check it out at this link:

The red tips on the rhinophores and the shape of the bumps on him and all that suggest a Nanaimo.

Re: Northwest Nudibranchs
this past week I've seen quite a few Flabellina verrucosa, both at Cove 2 on Tuesday night and today at Titlow. These were both at Titlow today. Tiny little fellows, they were close to the pilings.

Dusty, I saw the "sudden stop" behavior quite a few times on one dive with those nudi's... Do you know what that is?
It was funny looking...
pardon my white balance.
