I love Red Irish Lords, and the wide variety of colors they can exhibit. I found one once at Sunrise that was LAVENDER. The eyes, with their gold speckles, are always very cool.

If the colors are true, that picture looks almost like the lavender one I found at Sunrise. I didn't think they could change that much!

My colors are true in that one from Nakwakto. I didn't even recognize it, but John Rawlings said it was one and shocked me, i thought it was a buffalo sculpin.

Never? Does that mean you've been playing with photoshop again? :)

Those Barkley sound ones seem especially talented- here's one from Bamfield. I like how it not only matches the coralline algae, it also matches the speckles from tubeworms sticking up through the coralline algae.

Here's a link to one guarding eggs inside one of the jackstraw pilings at Cove 2 that we found back in December:

Greg, how are you doing that thing with your images to resize them on the fly?

Beats me. Seems to do it automatically- maybe they changed something with the site. Could be why I couldn't find Janna's message about re-sizing pictures that used to be at the head of the list?

Nope. Do you just use the "img" tags?

Great shots, they are fun to photograph, heard and seen people pick them up and they sort of just go in a cateleptic position... i know i've just about taken eyeball photo's of them and they didn't move.

Impressive tolerance of the fish and bravery of YOY crab.

Saw a juv this year, first one i've seen, it was much more skittish.

Dave and Greg,

I removed the thing at the start of the section because when Calvin recently updated the site, it sorta made this problem no longer a problem.

Dave - simply upload your photo - any size - as an attachment, and once it's uploaded, click the tab to place it inline with the text. It will do the rest for you.

Hope that works...

Okay, let's give it a whirl:

I say, Eeyore, good show! I searched all through the help files and such for how to do this and couldn't find a thing. Maybe something there needs a revamping as well? I'll help if need be. In any case, that's very cool. And now you can see the whole picture \:D/

I am always amazed at how beautifuly diverse Red Irish lords can be depending on their immediate environment. Here's one that is primarily yellow. The shot was taken in the Browning Pass area this year when I was diving up at the "Hideaway".

Click on the image to enlarge it.

Here's one from Cove 2, with a bunch of parasites on him. You'll need to click on the pic and enlarge it to see them. I'm just guessing, but I suspect he'd rather have the Santa hat...

Thats cheating! [-X

I didn't know I was starting a red Irish thread here but It's really great! So many wonderful variations on the same theme and so many great photos. I don't think I could ever tire of seeing all the great colors these guys are capable of, even dressing up for the season :smt038 . Who knew?

Hey, Janna what is the difference between the red and brown irishes and how can you tell the difference? Here are two that I'm not sure of.
