Sculpin ID

At the risk of asking another obvious ID...

what is this Sculpin?

also added photo of juv Buffalo sculpin, with a weird look on its face. I wouldn't trust this one.

I'm thinkin Buffalo on the first one also. Don't let the color throw you. They can change to fit there surroundings

I thought buffalo at first, but his head looked a different shape than usual?... shaped a little more sleekly, opercul spine not really obvious, and more bulgy eyed or something?.. It could be that i'm seeing things. :)

I'm thinking Buffalo too - the blunt head, and the large cheek spine are some things that stick out in this photo. But you're right - it doesn't look like the typical little Buffalo (like your second photo shows) where they have the sharp demarcations between white and black sections along their back. I think it's the camo job on that first photo that's throwing us off. Quite interesting!

Buffalo was my first reaction when seeing it.

Any more info about depth, estimated length, habitat, etc?

Sculpins, gotta love them, they keep us challenged! And humble.
