Watermarking pictures with photoshop

Is there anybody out there who knows how to create watermarks on photographs with photoshop?

If you just want to add text like "tubesnout 2010", you can type the text that you want (a hollow font works best IMO), go to edit/transform/rotate (or skew, scale, etc.) to get it to the position that you want, and then in the layer box adjust the opacity to the level that you think works best. You can make it look fancy by going to filter/stylize/emboss.

If you want to add digital watermarks you can sign up for a service called digimarc (http://www.digimarc.com)

...and if you save that document, you can use it over and over by importing original pics, positioning the watermark layer on top, and then exporting the new watermarked jpg. this will save you the trouble of recreating the watermark for each image.

FastStone Image Viewer (freeware) will batch watermark photos for you. Quite easy to do.

Great little program. It will also batch convert (resize), rename, etc.

It has some image correction capabilities, but, they are limited.

I am not that good with Photoshop (I know only the basics) so I will have to mess with it for a while before I get it right.

Yep. http://www.faststone.org/ you want the image viewer, it does the most stuff.

I have tried to follow your instructions but I think my knowledge of Photoshop is too basic! I could not find the way to adjust the opacity and the text seems to be stuck and I cannot move it! Is there a book titled Photoshop for Dummies by chance?

I'll try to use Fast Stone Image and see if I can figure out how to do it...
