Photos from Anilao, Philippines
Just got my photos up from my trip to the Philippines today. It took forever to go through all of them to choose the ones I like the most. I'm thinking that I should start deleting way more photos than I already do while I'm in the water, to avoid dithering over which one of the 3 nearly-identical shots of the Mantis Shrimp clutching its eggs I want to publish.

WoW, Calvin, you must be happy with your trip, the macro stuff is magnificent, but it is the wide angle stuff which blows me away!

Thanks guys!
Blaiz, yes, it is a squid, and yes - those are completely natural colors. The squid can change its colors from deep purplish/brown to iridescent and almost transparent colors. This is actually the same squid:
http://www.atlasomega.com/photography/w ... d=album-16
It tended to be the brownish-purple color when it was close to the bottom and then would go crazy iridescent when it went up into the water column and became more animated. We had a great laugh because the squid seemed to be drunk off of our lights, "ahhhh, the liiiight. So prettyyyyy....."

Wow. Incredible pics, C. These are like "National Geographic" quality. Seriously.

Thanks fellas! Bob, if you ever get a chance to get over to Anilao I think you'll really like it based on all the macro stuff you like to shoot.

Bravo Calvin. I agree with a previous post. The white anemone with the clown fish... excellent!

Thanks Scubie,
It's funny how even the most commonplace subjects can make for a really great photo - and real nice too!

Beautiful gallery! The mantis shrimp with eggs is great, but I also really like the ball of jacks with the diver! And you got some great reef scenes. Great stuff!

All very impressive images Calvin - thanks for the link to your gallery. The macro and normal shots of critters motivate me to add Anilao to my list of places to dive, and the wide-angle/fisheye scenes motivate me to keep working on my lighting - simply cannot fathom how you get such broad and even coverage.
