After reading a couple wetpixel discussions I have really been itching to try an UW pan.

Has anyone here tried a Pan in the PNW?

panoramas are a way of combining images together to form a single image that has a wider field of view than what one would normally have with a given lens. You dodn't need a tripod, just carefully take an array of pictures that overlap one another by about a third and then photomerge them in PS. In order to make this work you'd have to have pretty decent visibility, and of course lighting (or lack of) would play a role. I'd be curious to see what you can come up with.

A cropped fisheye shot is more or less the same thing. I guess a perfectionist can try to achieve better distributed lighting by taking multiple shots (and multiple strobe firings). Seems difficult without at least 100' of vis.
