Puerto Galera nudibranchs

Post by dphershman »

I had the good fortune of going to Puerto Galera in the Philippines last summer for 8 days. This area is in the 'coral triangle' described as having the most biodiversity of any place on the planet.

I've been sitting down to do some projects with the photos, the first one is a poster of all the nudibranch species that I found (28 in total). They're arranged in alphabetical order by scientific names. Nothing prepared me for the crazy amount of life there, hopefully my photos will do some justice to it.

You did some amazing work here. Thank you. I dived the PI the first time in 1967. Since tropical diving was novel to me, I focused on sharks, corals, colorful fish and did not tune in to nudis and such. When I returned to the same site in 1990, local fishermen had degraded the region, including fishing with explosives. It is gratifying that pristine places such as Puerto Galera still exist. Keep your posts coming.

thanks, everyone!

It was a cool project. I'm going to work on our local slugs soon (I certainly have plenty of images to choose from, and that's partly why I haven't done them yet).
