Great day and dives on Sat.
Vis was ~15-20' @ depth (~45fsw), and just a very slight south current.
Some octos, and a great big wolf eel in its den. Also had one come out in shallower waters (~20fsw), which I've not seen before.
Find the dead seal in ~40fsw (its been there at least 2 weeks now and ~75' south from the lion statue), ascend just a few feet, and you'll find the wolf eel and octopus in the wall right next to each other.
Kudos to Dad-O for some great shots! :occasion5:
Happy Diving!

Nice Video, what camera and housing do you have?
Re: Wolf Eels, octopus: Octopus Hole 12-6-08--video
It's an old 'video vault' housing, using a Sony DCR-TRV220 (8mm tape), with FL filter lens ('magenta'?).sheahanmcculla wrote:Nice Video, what camera and housing do you have?
You turn on the camera (recording...) and then seal it up. What you get from 1.5hr tape and battery is what you get.
Usually 1 dive worth, maybe 2 if they're quickies or I bring another battery & tape...
No external controls
Cheap thrills, but it works and doesn't leak!
Pics: Thanks!

is that a digital camera or do you xfer an analog tape somehow?
Re: Wolf Eels, octopus: Octopus Hole 12-6-08--video
I transfer from the 8mm tape using rca cords with a program called 'pinnacle'. cost was ~$100 for the software and interface box....not too bad.spatman wrote:is that a digital camera or do you xfer an analog tape somehow?
Anyone know of an easier/better/digital way to transfer using that kind of camera?

That is what I am wondering too! I have an older JVC that uses super 8's but don't want to sink too much money into it (rather save for a HDD, HD handycam) But if I can do it cheap and get a cheap housing I would start there.

My old video camera (dead) has a firewire port, and I was able to copy to the computer using that. You might check to see if your vid camera has such a thing. If you need to add the port, you should be able to for less than $20 from newegg.
