Re: The next generation in HD cameras
Hmmmm, I'd call it more a step back than the future. 5 mp is way low by today's standards and 115 ft is just marginal at best. No viewfinder or LCD. I say more of a vacation toy for the warm water divers. The pricing is good though for a diver who wants pix of that tropical vacation and doesn't mind looking like a dork.

looks to me like the unit is designed primarily for HD video, and the still photo option is secondary.Dusty2 wrote: 5 mp is way low by today's standards
but yeah, way dorky. i'd have a really hard time keeping a straight face if i saw someone wearing that contraption...
Re: The next generation in HD cameras
These things are even funnier in person. They were near us at DEMA and I had a great time watching people come up to the booth and try them on. It's a gimmick and won't be around long... so get'em while they're hot!!
...yes, I tried one on and even took some pictures. I simply couldn't resist.

This device is specifically designed for low-barrier-to-entry marine research. For research institutes and other organizations lacking funding for a traditional ROV, which typically cost in the hundreds of thousands, this device opens the door for a new era in marine research. Any research effort now need only attach this device to a tethered college intern equipped with standard recreational scuba equipment for an instant low-cost data gathering semi-autonomous ROV.

Sounder you know people are going to want to see those.
I just ordered one, going to keep it in a backpack as my backup mask.

Re: The next generation in HD cameras
had to order the black one, it is sooo DIR.
Funny thing is can you even imagine how easy it would be to knock that mask around? Or how the weight would pull it forward? Last ting I need is a bulky, clumsy, poorly weighted mask that I would be CONSTANTLY having to clear.
As much as my facial hair, and my constant giggling flooding my mask in OW this is NOT what I need.

I think this is why Sounder is selling his 50watt HID so he can buy one and then have one for a backup.

Yes, I want two of them. One primary and one back-up in case I lose my primary.Jabberjaw wrote:I think this is why Sounder is selling his 50watt HID so he can buy one and then have one for a backup.
