And airfare to Bonaire in May is *usually* less expensive than in the high-season months (Nov-Mar). I scored a $550 RT ticket for a May trip, once. (As opposed to the $1K+ pricing I'm seeing for Feb. '11). Ouch.

James, May 21-28 are the dates, and they are set! It would be great to get an informal NWDC group together!

I think Derrick might have something to say about that, Ron.

Derrick and I and some other folks are thinking about going in February, so we were looking at prices.

Bring him with you! I just want to go in May and I don't want to pay for a double room by myself.

Here's hoping we get some more NWDClubbers to join us in May! With the $595 rate we're going to need a final count by the end of October, so don't let the grass grow too deeply under your feet before shooting your reservations in.

Yep, that's the plan. We've both already taken off work. Now we just need to start making reservations.

Sweet! :supz:

We all need to get together for a dive and a Bonaire yak-fest sometime this Fall! :burntchef: :partyman:

The form for your reservations at GRI is pretty point and shoot. They're pretty good at answering questions if you've got 'em as well.

Glad to hear you guys are going!

At least 5 of us are going these dates - there may be a few more that join us. Let me know if you need any details Calvin.

This is not an "organized" trip. Everyone is making their own plane and housing reservations and is responsible for themselves. We will be happy to talk your ear off and give advice, but again, everyone is responsible for themselves and no one is leading dives.

We are simply some friends headed to Bonaire for a week of diving. We are staying at the Golden Reef Inn .

I have stayed there 4 times. It is a small, clean, friendly, and very workable place to stay. If your priority is DIVING it is hard to beat. Typically we go in pairs, two folks in a one bedroom unit. The units have a bath, living room, and kitchen and are quite comfortable, though not luxurious. Two people can get a place to stay, a rental truck, tanks, weights, and unlimited nitrox for about $595 pp double occupancy. Airfare is additional, as is any insurance on the truck, daily breakfast (not included in the price), whatever food you eat, a Bonaire Marine Park fee ($25 entitle you to dive for the calendar year), exit tax of $35. I think that's it, though one should always read the fine print.

Right now Bassman, Cardiver, & myself are staying in their 2 bedroom unit. Gutholmj and his spouse may be joining us. We pretty much dive our brains out the entire week.

We have kind of "thrown it open" in the sense that we thought it would be fun if a bunch of NWDClubbers "took over" Golden Reef for a week. If you're interested you should hook up with Bassman or one of us for a dive, get to know the folks you might go with, and if you're still interested find yourself a buddy and come!

Shoot me a PM if you have any questions. Most of us should be at the Club dive on the 18th, so we'll see you then!
