Silfa, Iceland Dive Video

Post by -Aaron- »

I came across this video of crystal clear diving in Iceland, I thought people might enjoy it. It looks like the rift is right along the continental plates of North American and Europe, so at some points you can be touching both continents at once.

Would be interesting to see what it is like down in those caves.

WOW... Amazing. And one more reason I want to go visit Iceland, now... I've always wanted to got here and see the rift on dryland, now I want to see it underwater too. A few minutes with Google came up with this site about the dive: http://www.dive.is/Diving_Iceland.php?page=Silfra

I've been eager to dive Iceland for a long time. There's a couple of dive ops there that have combined diving/sight-seeing tours. Iceland Air had some great fares last year direct to Reykjavik from Seattle. Darn it, I missed it. I wanna go! I wanna go!

While it looks quite breathtaking, I'm thinking the water temps are just as breathtaking. If the Iceland dives were teaming with fish and creatures, I might be tempted but it looks pretty barren. It is quite mesmerizing how clear the waters are.

It's like a geological Mecca!

(I can't help it. I get turned-on by underwater geography. Ooooo, baby!)
