Maui Diving Recommendations

Well today the wife throws me a nice curve ball. Friends who own a time share in Maui, Hawaii are inviting us to join them August 18th- 23rd and I am wondering if any of you well traveled divers know of any dive operations that you would recommend.I am thinking boat diving myself. I am not sure how many of them days 19th-22nd that I will be bale to dive as I dont know if friends have plans for other activities. Thanks in advance.

Dive shops in Maui are like coffee shops in Seattle ... they're on every corner. And which is "best" often depends on what part of Maui you're going to. If you're going to be in the Kihei area, I'd recommend B&B Scuba. What I liked about them is that they would at least make an effort to divide the divers up by skill level, so that the more advanced divers weren't so limited by the less experienced in terms of dive site choices and bottom times. Also, the owners (Brad & Blesi) are great people who put effort into great customer service.
Caveat ... I haven't been there since 2006, and my recommendations might be dated ...

Just an FYI..I would do some boat diving, but there is also some great shore diving in Maui. Do a search on 5 graves or the collapsed pier. Easy entry's, shallow, and full of life!

Second the shore diving ... I found it to be quite good. Besides the above mentioned, I really liked Makena Landing in Kihei and Black Rock in Lahaina. Ahihi Cove on the south side of the island is also quite nice.

+1 to B and B divers... Great op! Also, agree on the shore diving. Hit the old Mala pier in Lahaina!

Done both 5 graves and the collapsed pier, highly recommend them both!!!

Yeah, we found 3 frog fish at 5 graves/5 caves.

Thanks for the advice and unfortunately once the wife realized we are also going back to see family in PA August 28th to Sept 4th she changed her mind and we are not going to Maui now. can you say highly disappointed
