Compressor fittings, etc...

Post by Jeff Pack »

I just got my JORC auto drain in, and need some stuff to hook it up.

Specifically

http://augustindustries.com/High_Pressu ... _info.html

http://www.scubacompressor.com/shop/sta ... 83bc6f8040

Would prefer to find them locally, as I'm an impatient biatchm, and running out tot he compressor ever 10m is annoying at best.

Also a 1/4 NPT barbed fitting, for the outlet of the drain.

Any help appreciated.

The Seattle Swagelok dealer might have what you want. I've found them VERY helpful in the past with compressor parts:

Seattle Fluid System Technologies
3315 South 116th Street, Tukwila, WA 98168
(425) 825-1115
The Seattle office is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

I get all of my compressor fittings at American Hose and Fitting (American Flex) in Ballard. They have a pretty good inventory and if they don't have it there they can usually get it from their main facility in Kent on the same day.

South end would be preferrable...

But Camerons Tukwila place will work.

Tacoma would be better, or Federal Way.

Seattle Fluid was a total bust, they dont even have 5k psi hose tehre (well they do, but some monsterously stiff stuff).

Still couldnt find the adapter thread to my air/water seperator, even at Fittings Inc, but they ordered me one.

Which adapter are you looking for? If it is the one that goes in the standard black aluminum tower, that is a stainless (do not use steel!!) AN6 to 1/4" NPTF. I have those in stock if your guy doesn't find them for you.

Its the valve out of the bottom of the oil/water seperator. Its an odd metric pipe thread. I'm trying to plumb in the auto drain, so need an elbow that goes into seperator, then a T with one fitting to screw in the old valve (so can release manual if I have to), then a male output of the T (1/4npt) into my JORC auto drain.

If you have that stuff, lemme know.

Metrics are a pain to find the right stuff. If you don't know the size, it is extremely difficult to order the right stuff. There is a fitting and hose place not too far from you (Fife)called Western Fluid that may have what you need and if they don't, can get it ordered fairly quick. Take your valve with you unless you are sure of the size. And be careful ... 1/8 NPT looks a LOT like 1/8 BSPT. While it might fit, it will only be good once as the threads will get damaged.

Well, bummer that Seattle Fluid couldn't help you. :( Ray's right about the metrics sucking for a lot of things, at least when it c comes down to electrical or plumbing.

If that's just one piece that's kind of wonky, and there's plenty of metal, you might also consider retapping for something standard here. I've done that before for some items I had and it made life a lot easier :)

Go to Western Fluid Components in Kirkland.. http://www.westernfluidcomp.com

I bought ALL my 5000psi parker hoses there as well as all my fittings.. they have most metric fittings too.

my filter stacks used BSP (British Standard Pipe) fittings and some other metric fittings and they were able to help with everything.

Talk to "Josh"... quirky guy, but super nice and helpful.. got decent discounts too! (This stuff aint cheap)

They were helpful to me too. Although Mcmaster has always had everything I've needed. Of course if you don't know the actual thread you're screwed. I wouldn't trust anything in a HP application I wasn't totaly confident was a perfect match.

Western Hooked me up, they just didnt have any breathing air line...(Kirkland Store anyways). Had to order one adapter for my old valve, but I'll have my auto drain hooked up pretty quick.

Just get the 5000psi parker hoses with JIC fitting from Western Fluids and clean them at home.. thats what I used for all my breathing air hoses and fill whips.

if you want CGA-347 nuts and nipples, go to PraxAir or Central Welding.. they stock them.

in fact, there is a PraxAir a few blocks down the street from Western Fluid that I bought a few 347's from a few months ago..

Then get some JIC to NPT stainless fittings from Western to complete the setup.
