brightness of handheld light for the sound

Speaking from a product development perspective, there is a difference between a light made with low cost as the primary goal, vs a light which is designed and tested for performance and durability under more extreme conditions. Primary lights designed for technical diving need to be reliable 100m down and two plus hours into an overhead environment. They are more expensive for a good reason.

Brighter the better bro. Never heard anyone come out of the water yet complaining their light was just too darn bright...lol

Bright tight beam and sweet long battery life is the bomb
... but I've known several people who have come out of the water complaining that someone else's light was just too darn bright ... and sometimes they're talking about their dive buddy ...

Probably my buddies. I often try to shine my light into their eyeballs at least 2/3 times per dive. It's a fun game. But they are getting pretty good at quickly looking away these days

Regardless of what type of light you use, tech divers carry 2 extra backup lights for a reason, use what works for you and what has proven reliability. Just because something doesn't cost a butt load of money doesn't mean that it wont fit your needs or be reliable.

Well if someone was talking about a light that I built and many divers are discussing it I would be involved to help and answer questions and there seems to be people here discussing his product that is locally made..

As the Op of this I guess I started out with a bang..... new to the site and such a popular conversation!

Thanks for the feedback and the ideas. Plenty to consider. I dove Redondo Saturday and Sunday. Learned a lot about the visibility of the sound at least at this location.

Again thanks for the welcome and the thought provoking ideas!
