Zeagle Ranger

Post by BUZO71 »

I did it.... ordered a Zeagle Ranger with the Zeagle octo attached. Anyone have this setup? How do you like it? It was actually a toss up between the Ranger and a Dive Rite setup.... I know, I know, the Dive rite is more customizable but I like the fact the Ranger is all put together and I don't have to screw around with it....

The Ranger is a good BC.

I dive the Zeagle Tec and love it. I no longer use a traditional Octo so I can't comment on that one specifically. When my Tec wears out I will probably go to a BP&W. Certainly no reason to change now. Certainly no scuba units to change now!! \:D/

Lots of pros and cons to BC vs Backplate w/Wing. You'll find no shortage of opinions here... (you think the fin survey generated opinions ](*,) wait till you open that one!)

Your preferences will evolve as you continue to dive, in the meantime enjoy what you have, familiarize yourself with it till you can access it's features blindfolded in the dark, practice, practice, practice! Whatever equipment you use, as long as it is good quality, the bottom line is being familiar with it and able to use it well.

Then as you continue to dive over the years you will find where you "land" in terms of different kinds of equipment depending on how you dive.

Equipment that is necessary and standard for some of our friends who are tec divers or a bit more aggressive (and I don't mean unsafe) are not necessary for most recreational divers to dive well and safe... although cold water does present challenges that warm water does not.

Just my .02 PSI...

I used to dive the Zeagle Ranger for about five years, its a great great bcd. I also had the Zeagle Plus which is the octo hooked on the bcd and i actually didn't like that as much because i could never have mine adjusted right and it didn't breathe that great. But who knows it was probably just mine. Anyway overall report is that it did me well and its a great bcd. Now however i do dive an OMS bladder with stainless steel backplate because i went to doubles.
anyway hope that helped
