Post by spatman »

i'm an idiot because i never bought the weight for the housing to make it neutrally or negatively buoyant.

i'm and idiot because i never put my contact info in the housing or camera.

i'm an idiot for trying a different way to clip it to my bc.

i'm an idiot for not securing the wrist strap.

i'm an idiot... well, i'm just an idiot.

if anyone finds a Canon A610 in its extremely buoyant housing somewhere in the les davis region, i'd really like to get it back...

What a bummer! That really sucks! I dropped mine once while having issues at the surface after getting in the water off of Don & Diane's boat. Mine had the weights so it was negative and dropped like a stone in 55 fsw. Don was planning to dive anyway so got in the water & found it for me before I even started my descent. It was amazing. Hope someone finds it and it gets back to you.

So what exactly are you trying to say? ](*,) :dontknow:

That sucks - sorry that happened. I hear Bob's got one for sale (if it's not already sold yet). Hmmm... putting contact information in the camera case... that's not a bad idea!! =D>

If you're getting the Casio be sure to check out the new model that recently came out. It's the EX-Z1200 and it is a 12mp (obviously) instead of 10 mp.

i was diving with mr and mrs submarine yesterday, and they were telling me that when they travel they take a picture of their business card as the very first image on the camera. i'm going to do that with whatever new camera we end up with. and i'll probably put my phone number in the housing as well...

That sounds like a great idea. If nothing else, you'll get an email with your picture attached saying "thanks for the camera!"

i did see that listing, and it's tempting. i need to check with mrs spatman to see what our "mr spatman's-an-idiot-and-lost-our-camera" fund is capable of absorbing. if we can afford the 12 megapixel one, i think we'll go for that one, buut if not, then bob's is a good deal.

I understand wanting a new thing instead of something used but if you do go with Bob's, I'm sure it's in excellent condition and you really can't beat that price.

I put one of those handy little DAN return address labels inside my housing (as well as can light and hand held lights) . On a bigger housing (like video) I put in that plus a business card as it has email and phone info as well.

My wife and I were very sorry to see you loose your camera. We think that an upgrade may ease the pain a bit. Hopefully the budget will allow...

The bright side is that this discussion has brought up some great suggestions on IDing our equipment. Thanks!

Well, to try to make you feel better, I had a light returned to me 4 1/2 months after I lost it. It washed up on the beach just south of the Edmonds Oil Dock, were I was diving when it slipped off the handle. A guy walking his dog found it half-buried in the sand. The light was trashed, but the $70 worth of rechargeable batteries were still good, it hadn't flooded! But then, I had my name and phone # on it. I guess I didn't make you feel better, did I?
