Paulina Lake diving....

Post by bnboly »

Any know anything about diving Paulina Lake? On a recent trip to Bend I asked a NPS Ranger about diving in the lake and he told me there was no restrictions - go ahead and dive. Anybody know anything about it?

You might find a snowmobile or two. They fall thought the ice in winter. It is an altitude dive so dive accordingly.

I have never dove Paulina, but it is often not free of ice until mid/late June. The lake is at 6300' I think. I do dive Waldo lake which has superb viz in the summer. 80-100' some days. Also at 5500' elevation. Make sure your computer is adjusted for that.

A bunch of us dove Paulina last October. Not much to see, but I'd like to go back some time to a different site. On that same weekend we did Blue Lake (also boring), Crescent (awesome dive because the Kokanee were spawning), and Waldo (spectacular viz).
