REEF ID Classes 10/16-18 at Oregon Zoo

Post by nwscubamom »

As you may have already heard, I'm going to be teaching the Fish and Invertebrate ID Classes at the Oregon Zoo in a few weeks - on the 16th - 18th of October. We don't get grant money to be able to offer the courses down our way very often, so this is pretty special, plus it's at the Zoo!

Besides the basic fish and invertebrate ID courses, we'll also be offering the Advanced Fish ID course for the first time in the area.

Here's my little blurb:
Tired of not knowing what you're looking at on your underwater adventures? Learn how to identify many of our Pacific NW Fish and Invertebrates in these fun, informative and FREE classes. Also learn how to do REEF surveys. This class will change the way you dive!

We use common names, not scientific names, and focus on how to ID each critter. Classes help divers learn how to become citizen scientists and help monitor Pacific NW marine life on their recreational dives. Data gathered goes into an online database to help students, researchers, scientists, etc. (see http://www.reef.org)

- Classes are free but you must register.
- These classes will change the way you dive!
- Instructor: Janna Nichols
- Oct 16th - 18th, 2008: Oregon Zoo, Portland, OR
