Did anyone dive Newport on Friday?

A place for Oregonians to plan a car-pooling road trip, find a nearby diveable mudhole, and meet new local dive buddies.

Sorry I'm slow on this one, I've been busy. I did dive the Fingers Thursday, May 28, and the vis was 15 to 20. You are right to kick yourself for not bringing your gear. It doesn't get much better than that in the summer. The water was cold, about 46 degrees, so I think we were on the front end of an upwelling.

The ocean is flat and clear right now. A friend went fishing off Johnson's Rock (just south of Newport) and said he could see his gear on the bottom 40' down. Don't panic, however, it will be soupy again in no time, like by Wednesday.
