Interesting find on the Harpoon.

Post by Marc »

Anyone know who the potential Darwin winner is that owns/owned this tank and BC?

I didn't look at the gauge. I didn't want to drag it back with me, that is a long enough scooter ride.

Should recover it, and not give it back to the owner.

Yeah, but the interesting part is where they left it behind. WTF?

I suspect you are right, Richard. We'd have heard about it otherwise.

yeah, but _right on top of_ the Harpoon, that is some kind of coincidence... Safety diver in a single?

Come on folks, fess up! The suspense...

Of course it -could- be a prank, I know we've got folks with that brand of humor around... (was the wing fully shrink wrapped? It doesn't look like it from the image... I would think that surface to depth it would be pretty sucked in on itself or with enough water in it to equalize) It almost looks like an old pioneer wing with something odd going on with it. Yoke and post on the reg. All expendable in good fun. What was in that 'gear for free bag' that has been floating around?

It was a dive a couple of weeks ago, my buddy is in the picture, I took the picture. If there is a gag, I wasn't involved.

My consumption rate isn't THAT good!

We recovered it.. last weekend during a GUE Tec1 class..

it had over 50lb of lead on it and the wing was fully inflated..

no wonder it ended up there.. with a freegin single AL80.. and a wet suit.. there was no dryshuit hose on the kit.. if there was a diver in that rig on that dive, it would have stayed behind with the gear..

Richard Lundgren tied it to the shot line and the boat deckhand crew had a helluva time hauling it back up...
