Thursday Redondo 1/14

Post by pogiguy05 »

First I want to ask has anyone noticed that half this month is GONE!!!! :nervous:

Met Ron and John for one dive at 430pm. Tide was in to the last step at the entry. Our plan was to go out to the carousel boat and then out to the bottle field. On the way down I watched as a good size red rock crab was LIFTING a tire to crawl inside. I got a picture after he had gotten inside and wish I had been able to get one of him pressing the tire up. Ron decided to go to the one boat past the carousel boat and I had first thought if Ron knew he was going deeper and not to the bottle field. That boat was at about 92fsw and we then started out to the bottle field. Did not notice to many critter other than crabs out. Good thing was there was a little current going north. Went back to the pipe and circled around it looking for the macro things, then headed to the next boat north. I seen two hermit crabs and the bigger one seemed to be dragging the little one where ever he wanted him to go. Ron signaled to head to our safety stop so we went to 20fsw and wondered back to the pier. Ron found a small octo near the first piling. Headed in past the pump on the south side of the pier and one the way Ron found a small backup light that still worked although very dim. They have lights around the pier at Salty's which makes this GLOW to your left. The storm water drain was dumping out at a pretty good pace making the exit interesting.Total dive time 55 minutes viz I would say about 12-15fsw.

Thanks Ron and John for the great dive

Where did you see that little lobster? I've never seen one there before!

It was by the large pipe when you were looking at the Octo at the boat. The little guy was fast and did not stay long enough for a second pic. Went to point and POOF and nothing but a small cloud was there.

Ron ~ Those little lobsters were all over Sund Rock last few times I dove there. Its been a while since I was at Sund Rock.
Hopefully the little guys are still in abundance.
