This Morning at The Dond

Post by cardiver »

I met up with Rich, Keith and Mike at 0900 this morning for one dive at Redondo. The sun was shining and the water was like glass. It looked like a morning for an epic dive and it was!
Viz was easily 35-40' below the halocline and we had no current for the entire 72 minute dive.
There were octos, gunnels, wolfies, dorids, and warbonnets to be photographed and the site looked like a disco with strobes popping off every couple of seconds.
A great time with old and new buddies alike.
Thanks guys!

Oh, thanks for posting these! One of my buddies from Sunday evening was absolutely sure he had seen a young wolf eel, but he didn't get a photo, and none of the rest of us saw it, and none of us had ever seen one there. (Personally, I thought he might have seen a big gunnel or warbonnet!) Now we have proof!

Apparently your camera is working. Great photos of the wolf eel, especially the second one. The exposure and focus is spot on.

I probably took 15 pics of that little guy! It was way back under the pipe and would only venture out for a few seconds at a time.

It was nice meeting you Mike,
We couldn't have chosen a better day. Sunny, clear, not a whisper of a breeze. High tide, glassy smooth and great viz! And to make it even better we were the only divers there! :joshsmith:
A few of mine from today.

If it is, it's in pretty bad shape.....

It's a cockcomb. Which one I won't say cause that's a good question. It's the first one I have seen with this coloration. It was down around 90'
I'm assuming it's a breeding male because they are usually very well camouflaged.

That would be a Bass-Manfish!
Usually found on Thursdays. So to see this on a Tuesday is a very rare sighting!
