Okay, I know we have only met a few times but you should be able to spell my name correctly. I let Ron's "Jessie" slip, but I have to draw the line with Keith's "Jessi" spelling. Just because I had a bedspread made by Grandma Fannie that said "Jessie" and a winter scarf made by Grandma Berkey that said "Jessy", in my room as a small child, doesn't give new friends free reign to hack my name up. I am starting to feel like the redheaded step-child of the NWDC.

Viz was pretty darn hazy. @nd dive was a drift dive as the Redondo river was flowing north. Yawed into the current and headed to the wolf eel nursery, they were both there.

I dunno, but if you go down to the fat rope just south of the pipe boat, you can see if for yourself.

Hope to be in the water in another week ... meanwhile, thanks all for the pics ...

Wasn't holding out much hope given the weather but turned out to be 2 good dives. Made entry via south beach (as per Bob) on the first dive and immediately ran into a GPO in the open. GPO's don't like it when you try to shoo them. At any rate, no picture. Ran across a couple of small Red Octo's in bottles south and a couple north. Second dive was Carousel Boat north we were headed to our safety stop at the end of the second dive the guy without a camera found us a lumpie! Thanks Nate!!!! My hands were so cold it literally took a good 7 seconds to depress the shutter button. Might be time to go to dry gloves. BTW, all of the sand has washed away from the steps again.

Not a bad dive below about 40 fsw. Found 4 GPO's and one wolfie; not bad for it still being light out at 7p! Made a run through the bottle field and found a straggler on the way out.

Some new black sandbags at the bottom of the steps and water is turned on again, no hoses as of last night and no handles on the showers yet.

Did a nice solo dive last evening ... vis was pretty decent ... 15-20 at depth with lots of clumpy stuff. Managed a couple reasonable shots, although I am not happy with the color balance. Really need to talk to Lundy about a class ...

The juvenile wolf eel of Redondo...

Post by dphershman »

a few months ago the juvenile wolf eel at Redondo disappeared from his usual home, but I think I found him again. He's moved deeper and is probably enjoying the greater solitude. But he did poke his head out of his home to say hello for a couple of moments, enough time for me to get a few pics.

There were 2 juvies there at one time. There was one in the tire and one in the boat by the tube. Are they both gone now? Or deeper at least.

The one in the tire is long gone. The one that used to live in the boat is the one shown in Dan's pictures. The one in my picture is elsewhere (not gonna say where publicly ... but some of the photographers on this board know).

Redondo seems to be a wolf eel nursery ... seen several juvies there over the past few years, but as soon as they reach a certain point in their growth cycle they move on. I wonder if it's due to differences in dietary needs/preferences ...
