I have to agree with Bob on the cockerell's I see them at Point Hudson almost anytime I go looking for them but if you are not specifically looking for them they are all but invisible and their eggs are almost impossible to see unless the adult is still there.

Although I have to say that Redondo has not been THE place for nudies of any kind in the last few years. When I first started going there I spotted several kinds on every dive but the last couple of years I have seen very few. Seems strange since KVI is just loaded with them?

Redondo was nudi heaven until the big storm last year ... it's slowly coming back, but a lot of what was there hasn't reappeared.

I have pics of nudis I took there from 2006 to 2010 that I've seen nowhere else ...

Could have done an entire dive just shooting pics on the pipe and the boat below it this morning.
A little Mosshead Warbonnet has taken up residence at the NW end of the pipe and is the first one I've seen there in quite a while.

Had 2 nice dives with Scubie Doo on 12/23. First dive down the line to the bottle field, then crossed in front of the fishing pier and explored the south side of the boat ramp. It was the first time we'd dove that part of the site, and definitely had a good time. Found at least 4 lumpies, and half a dozen snailfish in addition to a ton of other characters.

Second dive was down to the pipe in front of the pier - I was on a hunt to find one of the Cockrell's that have been seen there recently, and finally did find one before moving on to see the little wolfie. We headed out to the pipe boat, vw and small reef, with the intention of heading to the eel grass for more lumpie-hunting. However, the cold got to us and we ended up bailing on the lumpies. I did find one on the way in, and managed a few pictures of him, including one that shows his belly-sucker-thing pretty well. Click on that pic to get a better look at it.

Merry Christmas!

Wonderful shot of that stubby squid!

HALF A DOZEN snailfish? I've never seen ONE. I have GOT to get my butt down to Redondo.

Here are my shots from the Redondo dive with Penders. I even threw in a couple snailfish shots. As Mike said we saw 5-6 of them. And Dusty2, yes a few more wolfie shots (she is too cute to pass up) :-)!

Cockscomb is my guess.

They are actually fairly common in our mudholes, but they tend to be under things, so you don't often see them unless you're turning things over.

No sir it was out in the open. I normally don't touch or turn things over as most of the times I've done it I've been bitten! (although I did poke a Buffalo Sculpin towards then end of the dive and I was rewarded with a bite; again re-enforcement to keep my hands to myself)

* Alright, it was ID'd in Critterwatch as a Pacific Staghorn Sculpin

The lumpies are getting big enough that they are easier to spot. I found a couple in the open at about 70 feet, really nice colors. The baby wolfie comes out and swims as if it is getting fed regularly. Viz was about 15 feet.
