very critter day on the hood

Post by deep diver »

Today was a great day for the critters on the canal, had up to 40' visibility as we were hanging at 40' we could see the boat pretty clear.
found this octopus sitting out on a rock, the poor guy looked like he was hurting bad. Something had ripped off 6 of his tentacles off and the 7th was cut half way through. :crybaby: He was kind of moving slow on stubs. Lots of Nudis
Also got a bad picture of this sqiggly thing. They seem to hang out in 20-30' of water, swim like an eel, they're 3-4" long and a little bit fuzzy looking and have big black eyes. Have been trying to get a picture of one for a couple weeks and just can't get a clear one, so posted this one. Hopefully someone can give me a clue as to what it is.
Pictures not too bad as I'm back to my point and shoot after flooding my Nikon yesterday

NIce pics, is the squiggly thing a nematode or worm? was it flat? That octopus picture is making ME hurt. Great viz! Viz has been really good in the Hood, so-so elsewhere.

Great dive with Dale today - and like he says - viz upwards of 40 feet. So sad to see a GPO with so many arms removed. Lots of critters to see today. Enjoy the pics! Keith

I made the transition from "point and shoot" to DSLR about two months ago - and I am learning more every week on how to use this thing! My rig includes a Canon Rebel 4Ti with a Canon 60mm lens and a Nauticum housing and Sea&Sea YS-D1 strobes. Keith

Yep... belly up. Noticed at 110' and case was 1/2 full .... blew bubbles all the way to surface. Took the lens off, water poured out of camera and the lens looks like a mini aquarium
