Sunny Day!

Post by Bric Martin »

The morning beauty of Hoods Canal never dissapoints! As I drove up today it was one of the prettiest sunrises that I can remember. The colors were fantastic and it really started the day off great! Seeing the sun rise above the water really makes you forget about the everyday noise of life in the city.

We had a bit of current today. We were told that we had an +11 to a -11 exchange. I think the large exchange turned the water into soup for the first dive. Going down the line we had a max of 3 feet of viz until we hit about 40 feet and then it opened up to about 20 feet. The water seemed really cold, my hands were frozen. As for sealife, the nudis are starting to grow and there really seems to be a lot of life in the canal right now. Last week we found a stubby squid. I was hoping for another today, but no luck.

This is my last dive before I head off to Key Largo, I am ready for some sun! As always Dale and Keith, thanks for a great day!

Nice shot of the warbonnet, Bric! I mis-spoke about today's tide exchange - it was large: +11 to a -1. Not the +11 to -11 that I mentioned to you and Dale. That's what I get for trying to read my tides app on my iphone without using my reading glasses! Great day to see more nudis as Spring comes to the Hood! Dale also pointed out a couple juvi wolf eels today.

Gorgeous underwater stuff, as usual, Bric -- but OMG, that sunrise photo (or sunset, whatever it is) is unbelievable. I think I may like that the best of anything I've ever seen you do.

Thanks Lynn! The colors that morning were really soft, that picture is one of my favorites!
