Great set of dives on Day Island Wall and Sunrise Beach yesterday with the good folks on the Ocean Quest (George and Andrea)
I was lucky to be diving with the Wed crowd from Vancouver/PDX area (Steve, John, Georgia, Connie, Jean) so it was a great group too with experienced divers.
At Day Island, the current was pretty ripping when we first got there but was slowing down. We hit it and it was a little bit of a drift dive at first but it was a lot of fun. Saw some octos out in the open and in nooks and the viz was really good- 20-25 ft I'd guess. Connie kept finding cool stuff to look at and take pix of. The wolfies we found seemed really big- like the biggest I've ever seen. The mated pair on eggs needed a king size den to keep it all in.
Sunrise was great- lots of big octos and small stuff to look at. One octo was really big but he was just presenting the top of his head- which filled the hole he was in. Looked like the size of a beach ball. The viz wasn't as stellar but was probably 15 ft at least. Water temp was 46.
This was my first time on the Ocean Quest and I really enjoyed it: great boat and nice crew. And the cabin was nice and warm.

I love the Ocean Quest, but then again, I love Bandito in general.
I need to get down and do one of these Wednesday trips!
Really nice first shot of the wolfie.

I have to say; this was one of the best boat trips I've had in the Tacoma area. Plus, my first time on the Quest- coincidence? Probably not...
