BONAIRE - January 2014

Yep, it's time to head for Bonaire again. This will be trip #9 for me, and I should do my 200th dive and beyond in Bonaire's wonderful, warm, life-filled waters.

10 of us are renting the Bonaire Sunset Villa at the Hamlet, a gorgeous property that has been used by other NWDiveClubbers in the past. There are even rumors of scooters... hard to imagine!

I decided that a Summer trip to Bonaire is nice, but I really need to escape the dark and murk of our Northwest Winters at least once during the Winter, so off we go!

I started this thread to "push" me to do a little report. I haven't spent much time on the board as of late, so I thought this might be a good way to get back online just a bit. Oddly enough, I really do miss diving our cold, green waters lately. Haven't been in the water since November due to life happening. Time to remedy that and start happening to life instead of life happening to me.

You know I downloaded my computer to the small laptop I took to Bonaire last time. The last dive recorded was in July and after all were totaled in I was somewhat disappointed to see that my dive on Jan.1st was my 300th dive and I did not even know. My desktop computer is 13 dives off somehow using the same dive log program so I will have to compare them to see if any dives were doubled up. GRRRRRRRR

We'll do our best to make the trip report worth your while!

You can also do a search for previous threads on Bonaire - We've done a few a couple years back with a TON of detailed info on the Island that would be worth your while to look up. I won't be duplicating all the island history, etc etc that I've done in previous threads.

You are getting nice color from the new camera. That photo with the trumpetfish and its friends is too cool. Hard to get all those critters in one shot.

So far 2 days 6 dives and Elise and BF arrived yesterday. Awesome 3 dives on the south side and on dive two the fire coral got me. WOW that stuff does not play around.

Thats Tom he was bleeding yesterday on the boat dives. I highly recommend Wild Side Diving if and when you come back to Bonaire. I am not boat friendly but still enjoyed the diving just not to rock and rolling of 8-12 foot waves.
