Awesome work Chris! do you use a macro lens for those closeups or are you just using the zoom? Really unusual to see such close in detail!

Must be breeding time for those crabs! never seen so many at one time.

ive Had the same camera since 2007 , i shoot with a canon Vixia HF20 ...
I have a macro lens for it and a wide angle

i have no idea why there were thousands of crab that night at the rope line ????? shore Crab i think ?

I think they're graceful crab. I saw a similar invasion on a dive I had Jan 17 last year.

yep, they're graceful crabs (Cancer gracilis) but it's a mystery as to why they assemble like that. I see a few of them mating this time of year, but not any evidence of that in the video. I've also seen some big batches of them (on one occasion pigging out on worms) but nothing as impressive as this.

Wonderful, I liked the slo-mo, especially the GPO inking as it explodes out of the den.
Great lumpie footage. I thought the lumpie season was about over.
