ThThTh 1/8

Post by YellowEye »

Hi
HoodsportDiver, ScubaJess, DLH, bahula03 and I went to Redondo last night. I believe there may have been an afternoon shift as well.

Some of the sighs were: lots of snailfish, quite a few small sun flower stars, lots of medium size purple ochre stars in the shallows (!!!), two beautiful green blade shrimp (hopefully dlh got a photo?), horned shrimp, the biggest market squid I've ever seen (probably 11"), plenty of small octos and gunnel, stubbies of various sizes and lumpies. T'was a good dive!

Nice pics Eric. We just missed you. You were still in the water when we left, we went to the local watering hole and waited for while :-) Hopefully, we will catch you next time.

Yeah, saw some cool lumpies, stubbies, tons of snailfish. The typical cast of characters. I will post a few pics soon :-)

Scoobie, I love the octo in the bottle, I look in most of the bottles I come across.

A few of my own photo contributions from this Thursday's outing:

Redondo Jan 8 2015 (100 of 201).jpg
This stubby squid has invited a shrimp over for dinner.

Incubating some eggs perhaps?
Redondo Jan 8 2015 (71 of 201).jpg
I think this might be a very well decorated Stout Shrimp...
Redondo Jan 8 2015 (105 of 201).jpg
The big market squid. It followed my lights for a few minutes then inked me and jetted off!

Hey Dave
Nice pics! I like those eggs inside the shrimp!
And to get that squid on a macro lens is impressive. Interesting angle!
Good to see you at a ThThTh again!

Great photos! I guess I had never realized before that the scales on lumpies were little points.

What kind of shrimp is that on the red kelp, does anybody know?

I think it is a Crangon type shrimp. Not 100% sure though, need an expert to chime in.
