Warbonnets at Cove2

Post by YellowEye »

Hi
Just FYI -- we saw 5-6 warbonnets on one dive at the warbonnet central location at cove 2. That's the most I've seen in a long time! Most were tucked in pretty good. But, so far they seem to be surviving despite the accosting of their home! :joshsmith:

Like many other sites, Cove 2 has changed quite a lot over the past decade or so. I used to see decorated warbonnets there almost every dive, not just among the pilings but often out in the flats between the boundary rope and the I-beams rope. Nowadays it seems much more uncommon to find them, and usually only at a couple different locations where there are pilings.

Much the same can be said for nudibranchs ... they're a lot less common there than they used to be, and some species (like giant dendronotid) that used to be found there commonly are almost never seen anymore ...

Mother nature may just be a little more resilient than we think..

Nice shots! Yup, I was there Thursday evening and saw at least 4. My favorite fish. Yay!

Excellent pictures! Can someone share directions or tips on where to find the Warbonnets at Cove 2? If haven't dove there in quite a while and would love a little help finding them. Thanks!
