Blakely Rock 6/12

Post by stphnmartin »

Visited Blakely Rock today with JPA, YellowEye and Scuba Jess and dived China Wall and Shangri-la. It turned out to be a very beautiful day with 25 feet of viz. We had a few mishaps. SJ's drysuit flooded and when I jumped in for the second dive my wrist mounted dive computer came off. I didn't notice till I reached the bottom and tried to look at it. Back to the boat I went. I decided to take a look 60 feet below the boat. I circled around and talked to a wolf eel for little before I found it! Woo hoo!

Both sites have been infiltrated with small barnacles but were still quite beautiful. There were plenty of wolf eels, GPOs and rock fish. There were also many pregnant rock fish. I also spotted a large warbonnet and a couple rhinoceros crabs.

Here are a few grabs from the video.

It was so great diving with you guys today! Your snaps are awesome! I love the crab covered Jelly Fish! That this is crazy!
Thanks for the invite! I hope we can do it again soon! Such fantastic viz!

You forgot to mention that time JPA jumped off the boat with his zipper half open.

Pics to come soon.

Yeah, cause he's an idiot.

It was a great time but if that amount of stuff went wrong every time I'd never use the boat.

And I found the blown fuse that took out the pumps. Could have fixed it right then if, as mentioned early, I wasn't such an idiot.

Ooh JPA you are a great captain! :) It was very impressive to watch you jump into the boat so quickly with all your gear on! :)

So glad you figured out the pump situation. I was worried.
Hope you have a great week.

Wow, lots of great shots YE. The over/under is pretty cool. The shot of JPA on the safety stop is amazing. It's almost as if there is a walkway right up to the surface with all the growth on the line. Well framed. The egg yolk and sun burst turned out so nice!
