Keystone 8/28

Post by stphnmartin »

Dereck, ScubaJess, DLH and I ventured out for a dive at Keystone today. The water was nice and flat with a growing current towards the end of the jetty. We got in one dive before fighting traffic home. I was delighted to see a large sun star fully intact and in hot pursuit of a cucumber! Here are some video screen grabs:

Nice shots, but be careful with UAS operations in that area. You're 2 nm from Coupville Navy airfield, within Alert Area A-680 and potentially within Restricted Area R6701, prohibited even under the new rules for Commercial operators.

My understanding consulting the airmap app was recreational flight was permitted with permission from Coupeville NOLF. I see now that keystone is very close to the boundary of a national park--Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve. I didn't think about that as Fort Casey is a state park. Apparently it's simultaneously a national park and state park. The jetty sticks outside of the boundary.

I didn't even see the National Park issue until I went back to Altitude Angle. That entire area is a mess!
