Howdy Folks!
I went up to Pickles Deli this week on Whidbey Island to enjoy some great sandwhiches. OMG yummins!!!
While I was there I also decided to go visit Keystone Jetty for some diving. Here were some of the snaps. Sorry, my camera was stuck sideways from normal on these dives! Also seen during the dives were warbonnets (both types), a diving bird, clown nudis and other stuff too small for my lens. Viz sucked, but it was still fun!
Have a great weekend! Stay warm during your dives!

Re: I went to Pickles Deli this week!
I am glad you enjoyed Whidbey. At the deli and underwater. And of course, it was good to meet you.
I had to cancel my dive at the Driftwood Park, my regulator decided to give me hard time.
So I returned the next day when it was much colder, and the visibility was still lousy.
Your egg guardian is a male Kelp greenling.
As for the kelp, my guess it is Stalked kelp, Pterygophora californica with some other seaweed growing on top of it.
This time of year even what is left of the common Bull kelp gets other stuff covering it.
Probably the same Keystone kelp

Re: I went to Pickles Deli this week!
Nice shots and +1 on the Lighting. I'm still struggling with that myself, even with pulling the strobes out wide and keeping them behind the lens port.
Re: I went to Pickles Deli this week!
These were tricky to light. The lowest power setting on my strobe, with the slowest possible shutter speed, produced way to much strobe exposure as compared to what the ambient conditions called for. And the particulate was crazy. I ended up with the dome as close to the subject as possible, pointing my strobes inwards, towards me, and just lit the front of the scene with a kiss of light from the edge of the cones of light.
Having a way to throttle down the exposure of the ds160 strobes in these dark waters may be helpful. Any tips for that (other than a diffuser?)
Thanks!
