Point Defiance Shark Program

Thought I'd pass on info on a cool local dip I went on lately... the shark tank program at Point Defiance Aquarium!

I took my twin 13 year old boys there. They give you basic instruction, supply you with all needed equipment (surface supplied air, drysuits, mask, weight) and then help you climb down into a cage where you have a great view of the tank. There are about 16 sharks, from 5 species in the tank. There are also jacks and other small fish. Beautiful!

Once everybody is comfortable they will optionally open the cage doors and the sharks will swim with unobstructed view right in front of you. They also provide narration with great info, and you can ask any question you want about the sharks. I believe several board members have worked at the tank, but I haven't seen them post much info on the program here.

My kids loved it. If you're over 15 and have a c-card you can also do a full fledged dive in the tank outside the cage. Min age for the cage dive is I believe 8.
