Deep diving at Sund Rock

Post by Jeff Pack »

After being laid up for 2 months after blowing my back out doing 300 pd squats, I needed someplace with an extremely easy entrance, and can get deep.

So we headed off saturday to Sund Rock.

Viz above 40ft was pretty rough, but with good buddy rules, diveable. Much deeper opens up abit, and way down deep we had 30ft of viz.
Found 2 small walls, one at 150 another one 180, with tons of rockfish on them. I havent seen that many in one place since I dove long ago with Donb at Rosies Ravine in Hood Canal.

The plan was 2 shorter dives (2hrs each) but decided after the first dive not to push it, as hauling rebreather, 2 BO tanks and scooter was pushing my back too much.

Shallower, a lot of snot in the water, at 256 was awesome viz.

- I got a good squirt in my mouth
- I would imagine that there would be a large amount of involuntary gagging
- I don't know about you but I'm not into swallowing it

Both walls were around 10-15ft high, and probably 30-40 feet in length
