Sixgill at Redondo

Post by kerbyk »

Unfortunately not for me...but a guy at work:

Sixgill 07/10 at redondo, around 75', splash maybe 7:45p

GoPro cool auto generated video with some tweaks:

Longer / better clip, with more shark shots, no cool transitions:

Very cool video.

Make sure you let the aquarium know about it and give them the video. They track sixgill sightings to keep an eye on the population.

I saw one there last December.

I've never seen a six gill shallow, its always been 160 or deeper.

- I got a good squirt in my mouth
- I would imagine that there would be a large amount of involuntary gagging
- I don't know about you but I'm not into swallowing it

Most of my sixgill encounters have been above 100 feet ... my first, with Valerie and Bob Lew, was at Redondo at a depth of roughly 40 feet ...

they used to follow us up the lines at C2, once time an adolescent that swam with us for 15-20 min followed us all the way up to 20' deco stop. that was just a little on the disconcerting side.

Awesome video! I'm still looking for my first six-gill encounter. Redondo at dusk seems to be the time to go though! Sound about right?
