Met up with an old dive buddy who is back in town, to go hit one of our old dive sites we used to always do.
Location: Tacoma Waterfront, Old Town Dock, Jack Hyde park.
7pm-ish splash
We swam out past the rock pile and got into the bottle field aroun 80'-90', continue picking our way down slope, hit 100' and we turned 180* to head back up slope... BANG... Six gill shark right in front of us (or right behind us before we turned around!).
And I mean right in front of us, maybe 5'. She (he?) was very friendly, swam right up to me nose to nose while I was trying to get my camera out and turned on. She then swam over to my buddy Aaron, right up to him and 180'd. She was so close Aaron reached his hand out and stroked her side as she swam towards me again.
By then I have my camera light on and she didn't like that at all, swam around us once and disappeared into the darkness. Only got a couple pics as she swam off.
Guessing she was 5-6' in size. She was every bit as big as my buddy Aaron who is 5'-7".
