Redondo 10/3

Post by pogiguy05 »

Well met up with Tom Nic for my first dives since my faceplant incident in August.

Dive one tide was out so we went to the south side entry and did the bottle field in front of the fishing pier. Viz was great I would say at least 30fsw. Came across a small Grunt Sculpin in a bottle and the juvenile wolfie I think someone has been feeding. He came out and gave Tom a hug. :luv:
The viz was so nice that when you are at the tire pile post along the rope you could see the boat and pipe from there. I was like WOW this is awesome to see after being out so long. There were many critters, but I did not have my camera and Tom was having issues with his strobe. When we surfaced the wind had picked up enough to start creating some white cap waves.

Dive 2 we went in down the stairs and walked thru ball busting waves and managed to not get knocked down. Of course this stirred up things quite a bit. The viz was still at least 20 fsw at depth. This dive we went down to the carousel boat and then ventured up to the Black Pearl. It seems someone has placed a bottle in Mr Skeleton hand. :tomnic: After the Black Pearl we cruised around out in the open where we found an Octo hiding in some kind of buried thing that gave him a hollow area to be in the middle of no where. I was kind of surprised when we came across the rock wall just a little deeper then the VW Bug. As for that poor VW Bug it has seen better days. I remember what it looked like when I started diving 10 years ago. At the end of the dive as we headed up slope from the pipe we ran across a couple of crabs that had a chunk of muscles and were dragging to who knows where and having at it at the same time. The Viz in the shallows was very stirred up thanks to the waves and the tide had come in pretty quick also.

All together 2 great dives and very nice sunny day. :partydance:
