Point Hudson Adventure

With the low current/tidal exchanges this weekend - I decided to head out to Port Townsend and dive Point Hudson. The first dive splash was at 11:30AM and was perfect timing for complete slack. Was able to fully explore the jetty, surrounding area and all the debris and wreckage that is at 60 to 70 feet deep. Viz was 25 feet. Second dive was with the flood and mild current - was able to work around the area again, and then go to the dolphin pilings. Tons of life! Way more species of nudies than I have seen at one spot in a long time!! Here are pictures of a few - but I saw at least a dozen varieties! Both dives were over 70 minutes.

One of my favorite experiences was finding a shy, juvenile wolf eel; he was bright orange - and darted back in his hole very quickly! So, I decided to bide my time and look around the area - hoping for the wolf eel to come back out again! Lo and behold - about a foot below the wolf eel hole - was a beautiful Janus Fusculous! (And in pictures - I found a baby just four to six inches away.) Had I not seen the juvy wolf eel - I don't think I would have ever seen the Jan. Fusculous.

All in all - I've got to come back here more often - just great stuff to see!
