Even more from God's Pocket - Oct 1-5 2019

Post by dlh »

Looks like lots of us visited God's Pocket this season! We really should try to coordinate this as an annual event.

As you've all heard by now the resort is as great as ever under the new management. I was able to visit in both Spring and Fall this year and had top notch staff on both visits. Chris, Bee, and Dan got the place back in ship shape in Spring, with Sten, Tanya, and Capt Al working the Fall season. They are all great folks, true professionals, and trusted friends we've been diving and visiting for over 15 years around the world. We are so lucky to have this place in our region!

The Oct 1st week was really great with top notch weather and diving conditions. Crystal clear skies the first couple of nights with lots of sun and good conditions in and on the water. Capt Al brought us to some of the classic sites but also a number we'd not ever been to in over a dozen visits to GP.

I didn't get any photos of Rocky, but I did spy him and his girlfriends getting busy in the kelp & surge. They must be having a a great year. :) My theme this visit was GPO's. I had several really special encounters with octo's, include one with probably the biggest one I've seen in the open. The big guy had arms that were at least 8 feet long in one direction, maybe 16 feet radial if fully extended.

Here are a few of my favorite photos:
