Labor Day Skyline/Keystone underwater extravaganza

Post by Sharkb8 »

This past Labor Day weekend the tides and weather aligned perfectly for slice after slice after slice of delicious keyline pie. There were perfect morning Skyline tides which left ample time to head over to the Keystone Jetty Aquarium for more afternoon fun. I was only able to eat pie on Monday but it was delicious :burntchef: :partydance: . I did manage to make the super early Skyline slack Saturday before heading back home to go on puppy adventures in the woods. Lots of people were able to join on the fun for several days, so hopefully more photos get added below.

We had an 6:30 am start on Saturday. ScubaJess, Yelloweye and Will didn't mind the early wake up. We got in a tad late but the slack was long so we were able to get a full dive in even with the swift drift back. Everybody was in candy stripe shrimp hunting mode and came away successful.

Monday was a little later start in Anacortes. Lots of great people made it out and had a good time. We waited in the kelp for the current to die down and then had a perfect dive with slow drifts on both ends of the leisurely slack.

After the candyland fun most people went home, so I headed out to Keystone to crash Anacortes Diving's group dive and eat their cookies. The diving was amazing as promised. After chasing baby mosshead warbonnets around the Rock of Life 1, I took Jess's advice and went to the end of the jetty in the shallows. Floating in the rockfish cloud was the highlight of the weekend. I’m Looking forward to more adventures soon with everybody!

Great stuff Ross! That weekend was a blast! I think jess said 21 friends were seen over the course of the weekend. Highlights were definitely the candy, warbonnets and rockfish schools! You did well on the rockfish school, those are so hard to photograph! Will post some pics too soon.
