I would like to take my newly drysuit certified friend diving on Monday, May 19th. I'm from BC and I only know Edmonds and Keystone dive sites in Washington. (Whytecliff is my 'go to' sight up here)

My friend is very experienced but just not in cold water. Any suggestions where we could go in the Seattle area? Ideally I like to go to Edmonds, but will we see anything at all? Tide exchange is too big for Keystone, I think.

Thanks,
Kerry

Redondo this morning was fairly decent, a good 10 feet above 40 feet, opened up a little more than that down by the carousel boat. The tide was out enough that we practically walked to the end of the MaST pier, and I'm guessing that helped the viz a bit.

25 foot vis on the Vertical barge and 15 but snotty on The Boss yesterday,Sunday.

The Shilshole Ocean buoy used for barge parking is currently missing. It also marked the location of the Shilshole Rock, Omar wreck and nearby Horizontal and Vertical barges. The buoy usually has a temporary replacement when the Army Core Of Engineers removes it for service.

Three Tree - 0900 Saturday, low tide. Lots of snot in the shallows, but a very nice 30' viz down to 70'. No lights needed today.

Vis this morning at both Alki Junkyard (at low tide around 9am) and Cove 2 (more towards noon) was the best I've seen in a while--a solid 30ft. Even at 110fsw, there was a surprising amount of ambient light.

Redondo - 0930 Sunday. Low tide. Once down below about 30' viz opens up nicely to about 20' and the jellies are making the return.

Cove 1/2/3 May 25th, 20-30ft down to 150, then totally heinous below that.

below 30-40fsw viz opens up to a respectable 15ft.
Little jellies everywhere!!!

Edmonds Underwater Park was all over the place this afternoon (5/29) at high tide. Maybe as low as 5ft in the shallows on our way out and 25ft at 15fsw when we dropped with seemingly random variation at points in between. Lots and lots of tiny jellies in the water column for much of the dive.

Picnic Point today must have been 30+ with almost no snot.

Frigging gorgeous!!! The sun was pouring in and making the hundreds of anemones all brilliantly light up into a rainbow of color. Saw an awesome candy stripe shrimp too :)

Just got back from Sund Rock. Vis above 18 feet and below 45 feet is quite good ... 30+ feet. Between 18 and 45 feet it's quite bad ... 5-8 feet maybe ...

We did OW class dives in Cove 3 today, and the viz (before we got there) was really nice! I'd say 20 - 25 feet. We saw quite a few mottled stars, too, which was a happy thing.

Watermans Wall is in Rich Passage. It's an absolutely spectacular dive - many folks consider it the best dive in the Puget Sound - but It's highly current sensitive and the wall runs close to the path of the ferry so it can be a bit unnerving.
