Redondo is still less than 5' viz all the way down to 85fsw. Huge plankton ice critters / masses, especially above 30 fsw. Feels like swimming in amoeba soup.

Seacrest Coves had a green layer shallow that dissipated below about 30 feet and then it opened up nicely to about 20-25' of vis, with very little particulate matter in the water.

8/14 Cove 2 Afternoon. Super nice probably 30+ deeper than 30ft. The layer on top is there but its not that bad and seems to be thinning out.

8/15 Cove 2. 30+ feet. The heavy rains didn't muck it up. Get it while it's good!

8/15 0800, Cove 3. Really nice conditions (20-25 ft) for OW class today with outgoing tide.

8-19 Sunnyside Park - Looked awesome in the shallows, but closed right up to 8-10' viz below 10' and never got much better out to the 60' range on the pipeline. Good ambient light down at depth though, so all in all it didn't suck too bad.

Neah Bay is a surgy 20-25' at Tatoosh South & Mushroom. Big swells, getting worse the next few days. It's going to be 'iffy' out there.

The Jetty barely had 10' viz as the surge pounded the shore.

Has anyone dove Redondo recently? I am curious if the viz is any better than last weekend.

Hoodsport: Sund Rock, Octopus Hole 8/22, 8/23

Post by mz53480 »

Hoodsport: Sund Rock, Octopus Hole: 8/22, 8/23:
clear in the shallows, down to about 15ft.
real nasty layer of bloom from 20-30ft. Maybe 2ft viz, at best.
Clears up to 10-15ft viz below that, but gets dark at 60fsw.

Everything is up shallow right now. Rockfish are hanging out at 12fsw at Sund.
Edit: here's a video of the rockfish:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70SPMMV88mA

Didn't see any wolfeels on the north wall at depth at Sund. ZERO.
octos in the open at 20ft in the fishbowl.

...I like going to the chamber.. They have great food there, and awsome live music "H20doctor"
Check out the VIDEOS!

Cove 2 Thursday 0930, high tide starting outflow. Awesome fish-bowl viz continues, but there was a layer of misou soup about 20' or so. In the shallows, and once below, viz was most excellent.

When I was landing at SeaTac yesterday I was amazed at the visibility from the air - you could see a ton of structure near shore. I'm glad that the reports confirm what I saw from the air - time to go diving!
