Norrander's Reef on Friday was 5' down to 30 fsw or so then opened up to 15' or so on the first reef. We proceeded to the deep reef, which was really cool, but the viz dropped back to less than 10' below 60 fsw. The ropes from the buoy really make this dive site doable in almost all conditions. Grateful to those who maintain it. Really need to get back here when the viz opens up!

It's been pretty bad all summer. I live on the island so it's the local site, but it just hasn't been worth diving lately.

If you turn due north at the cinder block that's holding the line down there's another reef that extends out towards Seattle. Maybe 30-40 yards north of the block? Not as large as the main reef, but more nooks and crannies for stuff to hide in.

Viz at Cove 2 was about 12-15' before we stirred it all up earlier today.

Lots of thermoclines. 81F on the surface! 47F at depth.

Dove Redondo yesterday 8/12 - maybe 10-15 feet of vis below 30 ft or so both on the shallow line and deep line before we kicked it up. Both were pretty dark at 8 and 9 am. We found a wolf eel in some sort of matrix structure on the deep line which made our day!

Fox Island West Wall was 10 to 20, with viz in the top 30 fsw surprisingly good.

Redondo 8/18, 3 nasty feet. Didn't go below 50 as suit flooded and dive computer battery died. But what I saw was awful!

Flagpole Point Sunday 8/20/17

Excellent dive at Flagpole yet again. Yes this is a long surface swim if going from shore but still totally worth it. The day was perfect, no wind, very slight surface current but not enough to slow you down at all on the swim. On the drop the viz looked a bit murky but when we got to the top of the pinnacle it was at least 20 fsw! We dropped over the edge onto a free swimming wolfie! Found several more along with some great nudies, awesome sponge chorals, pacific red rockfish and tons of other rockfish and large ling cods. We found one GPO tucked under a rock. Just all in all another excellent flagpole dive! If you have yet to do this dive, get out to the canal or stay at Mike's Beach Resort.

Two great 75 minute dives at a site I haven't done in years - Sunnyside. Viz was 20' +, even at a very low tide!

8-29 O'neil Island and Bare Island in the San Juans were 10-25, still a top layer of murky water above 30 fsw. Not bad, however.
