Cove 2, Saturday AM 1000, ebb tide, possibly best viz in years!

Hi
I did two weekday scooter+camera dives this week.

1) Skyline -- very silty and dark. The recent rains seems to have done a number here.
2) Flagpole -- had what looks like river runoff in the top 15 feet, as it was very murky and full of floating maple leaves. Viz was ok below but it was very dark. Lots of octos and wolfeels, with both octos and wolfeels on eggs, plus stubby squid eggs. The sponges have deteriorated significantly since last time I was here several years ago.

Both were fun and super easy with the scooter
-Eric

Sund Rock today, murky above 20ft like usual. Below that was maybe a snotty 15-20ft? Wind/waves/current kicked our butts though. 4 massive GPOs on the south wall, one was on eggs and looked like she was pretty well wasted away at this point.

Saturday 10/24 in Mukilteo at both T Dock and the other park with the pier were 25 to 30+ below 30 fsw. It felt like we were in a Cathedral swimming around the piles with several giant bait balls swarming around getting blasted by Stinky the Seal. I was also at the top of the geodome at one point on dive 2 clearly watching my buddy follow an octo across the bottom.

Cove 2 yesterday had the best viz I've seen there -- we could see the Honey Bear from stem to stern. There was a bit of halocline in the top 10 feet that reduced viz a little, but it was spectacular underneath.

I have not been to Sund Rock. I heard on Boydski you have to contact the Sund Family and pay $15. Is this still the case? Would like to try this site.

Any vis reports South Sound/Kitsap/Hood Canal? This thread hasn't seen a post in about 5 months, is it dead?

Hi! I heard vis at Redondo was 20 ft yesterday morning. Sunday we were at sund and there was a murky surface layer but the viz below was a very green 15 ft with lots of egg yolk jellies!

Sund Rock vis was great on 5/7! Probably about 25-30 feet, not too mucky near the surface either!
Saw 3 free swimming wolfies, more in rocks, GPO on eggs, tailed jellyfish and tons of striped shrimp :)

Hmm. Sunday 5/9 at Point Whitney (Hood Canal), gin-clear to 7ft... then pea soup to 50ft where it opened up to 20' vis.

So pea-soup-thick above it was like a night dive...

16May2021 am -- Fox Island West Knee Wall (calling it a wall when it's like less than 10 feet high seems ingenuous)

5 feet in the shallows to about 15 fsw
10-15 along the wall to about 65fsw

Stay salty, y'all...

Rockaway Beach 05Jun21 10:30ish -- A craptastic 5feet... maybe opening up to 7 at about 85fsw. So yeaahhh... there's that. Enough to keep track of your buddy. Barely.

A friend reported similar vis at Harper Pier early afternoon.

The rains from Sunday and Monday morning made a mess of the ok vis reports from the weekend in Mukilteo. Vis at the T Dock yesterday evening was horrendous (less than 5 ft) all the way down to 70 fsw. I'm pretty sure I swam completely through the middle of the dome before I realized I had found it.
